Why Not Make a Vision Board to Help You Savor the Summer?
A vision board is a powerful tool for helping you articulate what is most important to you.
A Vision Board helps you:
Reflect what you desire most for your life
Display the words, pictures, quotes, scriptures that represent your goals and dreams
Remember where you are headed, which can be really inspiring along the way
Picture and move toward the success you imagine
For the month of June, I’ve been sharing ways to savor the summer. Because one of the laments I often hear from moms is that it goes so fast…and they had so many things in mind. Not just for their families, but for themselves.
Savoring the Summer is all about slowing down enough to put together a plan.
It really is true that a dream without a plan is just a wish.
If we add a good dose of planning into our summer dreaming, we’ll end up doing the most important things. And maybe we’ll do even more than we hoped for.
Being intentional, prioritizing, and a plan of action can actually make our dreams come true!!
Putting together a Vision Board is Step 5 of Savoring Your Summer.
As a reminder, Steps 1-4 can be viewed on my IGTV. They include:
Put together a large summer wall calendar representing already-scheduled activities and events
Add extras to the calendar based on each family member’s favorite summer things to do
Manage your mom expectations to do “all the things” this summer by starting with a plan to accomplish one thing that’s really important to you

This final step - Putting Together a Vision Board - can be used as a simple but powerful reminder of how you’ve decided to Savor This Summer. You can keep it in front of you every day. You can use it to visualize what you desire most. You can pray over it!
I’ve shared a few of my vision boards here from over the years so you can see some examples.
A Summer Vision Board can be a bit simpler. Here’s a download to guide you through the questions I recommend.
You can make a Summer Vision Board as a family activity and make one board that represents all of you. Each of your family members can make their own. Or maybe your family can have one board…and you, mama, can have your own board. Because a Mom’s got to have a vision for herself too!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your Vision Board(s)
Time – Put aside about an hour to an hour-and-a-half to make your boards.
Materials – Poster Boards (11”x14” is the smallest I’d recommend. Make it as big as you like. Use regular poster board or foam boards for a sturdier foundation. I like to laminate mine after I’m done. The regular poster board is best for this.)
Scissors
Glue sticks
Stickers, magazines, your computer and printer if you want to use the Internet to search pictures, quotes, etc.
Questions to guide everyone to their answers – Download the Vision Board Questions Worksheet here (Here’s a List of Positive Emotions too)
The final step of putting together your vision board is each person shares why they chose the words or pictures they did. It’s a wonderful bonding opportunity that increases understanding of and insight into one another.
This is a Vision Board from one of my Workshop attendees.
Once you’ve got your vision board(s) completed, put it somewhere you can see it every day. You move towards what you focus on. Remember your vision board serves as a powerful reminder of what you care about most, it’s a prayer prompt, and helps you reach the goals you’ve articulated.
Let me know how you’re savoring the summer…and if you’re using a vision board to keep you on track for a summer you love.
